Drills as Real Battles, Building Strong Defenses — Zangge Potash Conducts 2025 Comprehensive Flood Emergency Drill

As the critical flood season of July and August approaches, Zangge Potash Co., Ltd. organized its 2025 Comprehensive Flood Emergency Drill on July 18. The exercise was designed to thoroughly test the company’s emergency response mechanisms, strengthen practical flood disaster response capabilities, and ensure the protection of employees’ lives, property, and stable operations.

The drill was led by Assistant to the General Manager and Chief Commander Mr. Xiao Bing, with over 80 participants, including department heads and emergency response team members. The scenario simulated continuous heavy rainfall in the South Hobson Lake area, causing water levels to rise sharply above the warning line. At 15:20, inspection personnel detected seepage at part of the dam, with floodwaters quickly spreading downstream to the pumping station. During the emergency evacuation, one on-duty worker sustained a minor injury, while neighboring production facilities faced imminent risk.

Upon detection of the incident, the company’s Emergency Command Leadership Team immediately launched a Level II emergency response plan. Each response group acted swiftly and efficiently:

The Rescue Team mobilized excavators, loaders, and heavy equipment, deploying sandbags and stone materials to block the breach.

The Technical Response Team monitored water levels in real time, assessed risks, and provided technical solutions.

The Communications Team maintained smooth command channels, issuing timely warnings and evacuation orders.

The Security & Evacuation Team established cordons and organized personnel evacuation.

The Logistics Team ensured the timely supply of flood control materials such as sandbags and life jackets.

The Medical Team set up a temporary station, providing immediate treatment for the injured worker.

Under unified command, all teams coordinated seamlessly. By 15:45, the flood threat was effectively contained, all personnel in danger zones were safely evacuated, the injured worker received proper treatment, and critical production facilities were secured.

The drill stood out in three aspects:

Strong realism — closely simulating actual flood scenarios to test the operability of emergency plans.

Rapid response — the entire incident was contained within just 25 minutes.

Efficient coordination — multi-departmental collaboration formed a strong joint emergency force.

Building on this exercise, Zangge Potash will further enhance its flood emergency management system by:

Strengthening accountability at all levels to ensure responsibilities are clearly assigned.

Optimizing emergency response plans for greater precision and practicality.

Expanding material reserves and daily training to improve preparedness.

Reinforcing monitoring and early warning systems to ensure rapid detection and response.

Through these measures, the company will continue to improve its overall disaster prevention, mitigation, and emergency response capabilities, safeguarding safe and stable production operations.
