Zangge Mining and Qinghai University Collaborate to Advance Ecological Protection and Scientific Research on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
On December 27, Zangge Mining, in partnership with Qinghai University, convened a joint seminar on corporate–academic research collaboration and ecological protection of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The meeting was co-hosted by the two entities and marked a continuation of ongoing cooperation in ecological restoration and sustainable development.

At the seminar, the Qinghai University research team presented the background and progress of collaborative projects. Key areas of research highlighted included saline-alkali land improvement, ecological restoration of mining zones, and ecological monitoring in high-altitude regions. Ms. Tian Zhangyun, Director of the President’s Office at Zangge Mining and Assistant General Manager of Zangge Potash, formally acknowledged the significance of the research outcomes. She emphasized the role of corporate–academic partnerships in advancing both ecological protection and economic development, identifying technological innovation as a key pathway for achieving balanced progress.
The program also incorporated targeted training for the company’s ESG officers. Training sessions covered technical methods for saline-alkali land management, vegetation restoration techniques, biodiversity protection measures, and monitoring of highland ecosystems. Instruction was specifically tailored to the ecological characteristics of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, equipping company staff with specialized knowledge relevant to operations in the region.

Zangge Mining has publicly maintained a policy commitment to green development practices and ecological stewardship on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In July 2024, the company signed a formal research cooperation agreement with Qinghai University. The agreement supports research activities within the State Key Laboratory of Sanjiangyuan Eco-Environment and Plateau Agriculture—a joint provincial-ministerial initiative. Research under this framework is directed at ecological restoration in plateau regions, with an emphasis on integrating resource development practices with ecological protection.
The company has indicated its intention to continue engagement with academic institutions in order to address challenges posed by climate change and ecological degradation. Future collaboration is expected to expand the scope of sustainable resource management projects and contribute to broader national ecological conservation objectives.
