The 2023 “May Day” Labor Skills Competition Successfully Concluded
To strengthen company culture and foster an environment of "focus on business, learn skills, practice abilities, and enhance quality," Zangge Mining organized the 2023 Labor Skills Competition from April 10 to 27, themed “Skill Development, Improve Abilities, Ensure Safety, Talent Drives Enterprise.” A total of 404 employees from nine job categories—including large truck drivers, electricians, electrical fitters, excavator operators, loaders, product quality staff, locomotive operators, KCL production process workers, and chefs—gathered at the Huzhou production site to compete, demonstrate skills, and showcase their talents.

Before the competition, department leaders delivered enthusiastic speeches, emphasizing that this event was a great opportunity for employees to showcase their skills and potential. It also served as an effective means for the company to accelerate its strategic goals and cultivate high-level professional talents. The company set clear requirements: 1) Participants should compete with a mindset of improving their skills and bringing glory to Zangge, demonstrating their abilities and the spirit of the company; 2) Judges should organize the competition responsibly, ensuring fairness, impartiality, and transparency; 3) The organizing committee should provide a favorable competitive environment to ensure the smooth progress of the event.

On the competition floor, participants were assessed on both theoretical knowledge and practical skills according to their job categories. In the electrician event, thick cables were skillfully stripped into dozens of red, yellow, green, and blue wires, impressing the audience with the contestants’ calmness and dexterity as all wires were connected within minutes. Welders, wearing protective masks and handling welding guns, carefully performed spot welds on materials, with sparks flying and arcs shining, transforming scattered workpieces into neat welds that drew rounds of applause. At other competition sites—large trucks, excavators, loaders, product quality, locomotives, KCL production, and culinary skills—contestants showcased their expertise. Throughout the competitions, participants demonstrated high enthusiasm, strong spirit, technical proficiency, a willingness to learn, perseverance, problem-solving capability, and a positive attitude, reflecting the outstanding qualities of “Zangge people.”

This year, the company actively embraced innovation and promoted the spirit of craftsmanship. Using this skills competition as an opportunity, the company encouraged employees to train and excel in their positions, fostered enthusiasm and initiative, and cultivated outstanding skilled talents. High-skilled employees were encouraged to play a key role in mentoring, passing on techniques, and promoting skills across the workforce.
