Zangge Mining Conducts 2024 ESG Training and Officially Launches Carbon Inventory Project

In response to the “Guiding Opinions on Promoting a Comprehensive Green Transition of Economic and Social Development” issued by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and to actively promote green and low-carbon economic and social development, as well as further enhance the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) capabilities and carbon emission management, Zangge Mining organized ESG training and officially launched its carbon inventory project from August 20 to 28, 2024.

The training combined online and offline sessions and involved department heads and ESG officers from Zangge Mining and its subsidiaries. During the training, Board Secretary Li Ruixue delivered an in-depth presentation on the close connection between ESG initiatives, carbon inventory management, and the company’s sustainable development. Following this, senior experts from Miaoying Technology Consulting provided a systematic analysis of key ESG topics and practical energy-saving and carbon reduction measures. After the training, the company’s ESG task force conducted interviews and discussions with various departments and carried out on-site assessments for the carbon inventory project.

Through on-site interviews, the ESG task force engaged with different departments to explore issues of interest to a wide range of stakeholders, jointly discussing current gaps in ESG management and proposing actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.

To fully understand the company’s current carbon emissions, the ESG task force conducted a comprehensive carbon inventory at the Zangge Potash and Zangge Lithium facilities, as well as at office sites, focusing on Scope 1 & 2 emission sources and hotspots, while also including Scope 3 emissions in the assessment. The on-site inspection began at the company’s office building in Golmud, where water and electricity consumption was assessed in detail. The team then proceeded to production sites to assess carbon emissions across all production and living scenarios at the Zangge Potash and Zangge Lithium facilities.

Looking ahead, Zangge Mining will further define carbon reduction pathways and targets, actively respond to the national dual-carbon strategy, and serve as a benchmark for partners and peers in the industry.
