The Ministry of Natural Resources’ China Geological Survey Conducts In-Depth Lithium Mining Industry Research at Zangge Mining

On February 18, 2025, a research team from the International Mining Research Center of the China Geological Survey under the Ministry of Natural Resources visited the company for a specialized study on the lithium mining industry. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on core topics including lithium investment, technological breakthroughs, ESG governance, and future strategic planning.

The research visit was led by Dr. Zhu Qing, Chief Researcher at the International Mining Research Center of the China Geological Survey, with team members including Dr. Cheng Shaobo from the Mining Science and Technology Institute and Engineer Wang Yanjun from the Mining Market Institute.

The Group attached great importance to this research visit. It was hosted by Cui Pengfei, the person responsible for establishing the Zangge Group Party organization, senior expert, and Deputy General Manager of the Chengdu Branch. The management team participating in the discussion included Board Secretary Li Ruixue, Vice President and General Manager of Zangge Lithium Zhang Shengshun, Vice President and General Manager of Zangge Mining (Laos) Development Co., Ltd. Zhang Ping, Assistant President and Deputy General Manager of Chengdu Investment Company Tian Fei, and General Manager of the Industry and Policy Research Center Chen Yan.

During the meeting, Li Ruixue provided detailed presentations and discussions on environmental measures under the ESG governance framework, community relations management, and green mine construction. Zhang Shengshun, via online connection, highlighted the company's technological breakthroughs in lithium extraction from salt lakes and cost optimization achievements, analyzed challenges in project approval, water resource management, resource taxation, and environmental governance, and offered corresponding suggestions. Zhang Ping shared preliminary experiences and recommendations from Zangge Mining’s overseas projects, while Tian Fei analyzed experiences and challenges in overseas mining investment. The research team from the China Geological Survey highly praised the company’s professional capabilities and industry contributions, providing expert advice and guidance on operational matters.

This research visit aimed to provide references for national policy formulation and the high-quality development of the industry, while promoting collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research institutions. Going forward, the company will further strengthen technological research and development, deepen ESG practices, and look forward to establishing long-term cooperation mechanisms with the China Geological Survey in areas such as data sharing and policy research, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the lithium mining industry.
