Zangge Potash Conducts Flood Prevention and Emergency Response Drill

To thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on flood prevention and disaster relief, and to improve the company’s ability to respond to extreme weather and employees’ flood emergency handling skills, Zangge Potash carried out a flood prevention and emergency rescue drill on the afternoon of July 11, 2023, at 15:00. The drill was led by the Safety and Environmental Protection Department and involved more than 30 personnel from the Mining Workshop of the Production Management Department, the Public Facilities Department, and Chuangyu Logistics Services Co., Ltd.

The drill simulated a breach on the southern side of the Nanhobson Lake flood-control dam caused by heavy rainfall, with the downstream No.1 pump station operating platform submerged by floodwater. Upon receiving the flood alert from the monitoring personnel, the communications team immediately reported to the leader of the flood prevention command group. The overall commander for flood prevention and control issued orders, assembling over 30 emergency rescue personnel and flood-fighting equipment to rush to the disaster site.Six functional teams—the Communications Team, Emergency Response Team, Logistics Support Team, Rescue Team, Security Team, and Medical Team—quickly entered emergency response status. The Medical Team treated an injured person at the downstream No.1 pump station; after emergency bandaging, the injured person was immediately transported to Golmud City Hospital for treatment.

The drill simulated realistic scenarios, with all emergency teams closely coordinating and performing their respective duties. Rescue operations were carried out quickly according to the drill plan, and all hazards were effectively addressed, achieving the expected outcomes.

After the drill, the overall commander of the flood prevention and emergency rescue exercise and the Safety and Environmental Protection Department provided feedback and a summary. They emphasized that all employees should carefully review lessons learned, identify gaps, and promptly improve the emergency response procedures, further enhancing the company’s flood prevention and emergency rescue capabilities.
