ZGM is Shortlisted in Excellent Environmental Governance Cases in 2023 White Paper on ESG Practices in China

On December 22, 2023, Global Times and the State-owned Assets Report Magazine under the State Council jointly released the 2023 White Paper on ESG Practices in China, and ZGM was shortlisted in excellent environmental governance cases in the White Paper with the case of “closed-loop water circulation.”

As the world’s largest consumer of potash fertilizer, China is highly dependent on imported potash fertilizer due to limited resource and other reasons. As the second largest potash fertilizer manufacturer in China, ZGM actively responds to the call of the national potash fertilizer strategic reserve, stabilizes production and ensures supply while protecting natural resources to the largest extent, and makes due contributions to national food security.

Like other mineral resource development enterprises, ZGM has also the pressure of large water consumption, which is a common challenge in the mining industry. As an enterprise that not only shoulders the mission of national food security but also attaches great importance to ecological and environmental protection, ZGM has raised the issue of how to maximize the conservation and protection of water resources while ensuring the output to the strategic level of the Company. Through continuous innovation and experimentation, it has finalized the closed-loop water circulation in the production process. In addition, after correctly identifying the opportunities for global new energy transformation in 2018, the Company built a new 10,000-ton battery-grade lithium carbonate production line, adding lithium carbonate production to the large process of closed-loop water circulation, further improving the efficiency of comprehensive utilization of water resources and mineral resources.
