Golmud Zangge Potash Co., Ltd. was founded in November 2002, with a registered capital of 800 million yuan, and the legal representative is Xiao Ning. Its headquarters is located at No. 15-02, Kunlun South Road, Golmud with a production area in the Qarhan Salt Lake, 70 kilometers north of Golmud. The company produces two major products, Bluesky potassium chloride (MOP, muriate of potash) and Hangkong magnesium chloride, having a mining area of 724.35 km² in the salt lakes. At present, there are 8 MOP production workshops with an annual output of 2 million tons and a set of equipment with an annual output of 10,000 tons of lithium carbonate. The company has offices in Beijing, Chengdu and Xining with products sold all over the country. The intracrystalline brine mined from Qarhan Salt Lake is the raw material to produce MOP, lithium carbonate, and by-products: magnesium chloride and industrial salt. The company is now the second largest producer of MOP in China, one of the 30 key enterprises in Qinghai Province, one of the participants in drafting national standards for MOP production and one of the national pilot green mines.
